Significance of a building plan with proper elevation

The Plan with elevationis the best and at the same time the most demanding external showcase of the house. For this reason, it should not only reflect the owner's preferences, but also harmoniously fit with the building's surroundings. Today's possibilities for selecting and making elevations are very wide. It is therefore worth considering what type of external wall finish will best suit the house being built or modernized. This text will suggest what to consider when choosing a facade, what to pay special attention to and when is the best time to undertake the entire undertaking.

The showcase of a building plan and elevation, which creates the first impression and influences the overall perception of the entire property. The materials used, their arrangement, texture and colour determine the character of the building, testify to its uniqueness. But the face of the building does not only have a representative function. It is also an important part of the architectural design with Plan with elevationand the entire structure - it has a protective function, securing the building, for example, against the effects of weather conditions.

House elevation - guidelines to consider before making the elevation

The facade of a house has two important functions: aesthetic and protective. The finishing of the external walls of a house should match both its interior and the surroundings of the building. A harmonious combination of individual elements will help to avoid the impression of randomness.

How to design a house facade?

The external finish of the building should match the immediate area in which the house is being built or is already located. The color scheme must comply with local regulations, i.e. it must be consistent with the Plan with elevationor Development Conditions. These documents may contain Plan with elevationguidelines regarding the style of the finish, the color of the facade or the roof. The compliance of your project with local regulations is a necessary condition for obtaining a building permit.

The overall effect, i.e. the final appearance of your house, consists of several elements. These are: the base color of the facade, the type and color of additional finishing material (wood, concrete, stone), as well as the color of the roof and external doors and windows. In some projects, the color of external stairs, balustrades, terrace and additional elements such as gutters, window trims, garage doors are also important. It is best to first decide on the color of the plaster and roof, and then match the remaining finishing elements to them. All these elements contribute to the overall effect, which must be an aesthetic composition. The facade should correspond to the materials and colors or contrast with them.

The examples of building plan and elevationof single-family houses designed by professional architects presented in the further part of the article can be an inspiration when making decisions about the final appearance of the future house. The graphics present various color combinations, in which the attractive base is often made up of white and subdued gray plasters combined with various accents in the form of natural cladding, concrete structure, or other color accents. Very realistic visualizations for professionalprojects allow you to see the future effect and see whether the selected method of finishing the external walls corresponds to the style, color, and material used for your dream house.

It is worth remembering that the facade Plan with elevationprepared by professional architects are only a proposal for the finishing of the house and can be freely modified during the adaptation or construction of the house in order to adjust the appearance of the facade to your own preferences.

The most important factors when choosing a facade

The facade of the house should be made of a material that is adapted to the construction technology in which the building was erected.

Therefore, match the finishing method of the house facade to the type of walls in such a way that:

  • Single-layer walls are mainly intended for plastering – using traditional or thin-layer plaster, depending on whether you are dealing with uneven walls or if they are quite smooth.
  • Two-layer walls – are insulated using mineral wool or polystyrene boards, and then this thermal insulation layer can be covered with thin-layer plaster or the facade can be made of wooden or PVC panels.
  • Three-layer walls – the facade can be made of clinker, ceramics or silicates, you can also decide to apply traditional or thin-layer plaster on such a wall surface.
  • Frame walls – these are usually finished with wood or plastic tiles. These walls can be plastered after installing an additional layer of insulation. Sometimes such houses are built using clinker bricks or concrete blocks.

Some buildings require the use of light and breathable materials, in others insulating properties will be important, and in still others increased resistance of the façade to dirt will play a key role.

Facade style

The wall covering should match the shape and style of the building and its other elements, such as the roof and window joinery. The building plan and elevationshould not visually burden the building. In more classic designs, it is usually uniform and devoid of many decorative elements.

The Plan with elevationin a two-story house design allows for a bit more imagination – in its case, different elements are often used on the ground floor and on the other floors. Large buildings also allow for the use of various decorative elements, e.g. stone, mosaic plaster, terracotta or various facings, which can be installed, for example, on the porch, around the windows, on the terrace or bay window.

House elevation and fire safety

An important aspect related to the issue of elevations is fire safety. It depends mainly on the correct execution of building insulation – so as to slow down and limit the spread of fire on the elevation, and thus to minimize losses. According to the regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure, each building should be constructed in a way that minimizes the risk of fire to the maximum extent, and in the event of its occurrence, minimizes damage. This Plan with elevationalso contains provisions regarding the insulation of external walls, which should be made of materials that do not spread fire, and from a height of 25 m – of non-flammable materials, and fixed elements of insulation should not fall off in the event of a fire occurring and spreading.
